Sierra Leone Commercial Bank (MiYone) is a commercial bank that serves approximately 50% of the Sierra Leone's internet-savvy population. The percentage of Sierra Leone that is tech-savvy is about 43%, as many individuals are more comfortable with traditional methods and find many applications difficult to use.

The current application helps in the sending of money, issuing of cheques and payment of bills. But the brand has recorded a 32% drop-off rate. If that is the case, then we need to look at it from a user experience point of view.

The Brief

Recreate the current mobile application and make internet banking available. The mobile application should be very simple and easy to use, breaking down the protocols and simplify the experience to improve overall usability.

Business Goals

  1. Improve features of SLCB. a, b and d should be the same talking about experience of the user and how that convert to %age increase.
  2. Improve sign in and opening of account experience.
  3. Encourage sending of money to non-SLCB users.In order to expand the product to new territoriesand adoption of new uers.
  4. Communicate every stage and screen clearly.

The Solution

Here, I will be highlighting the problems we discovered during ideation and research. Also, I will be writing about the solutions we arrived at that counter these problems. Let’s go!

The problems

The design related problems leading to drop-offs are;

  1. Home screen does not give user access to see balance. Or the flexibility to decide whether he will like to see it or hide it.
  2. Since the app support multiple account ownership, how do I see my different account on this screen?
